My Philip Pressure Cooker

BEHOLD! My latest gadget which - The Philip All in One Cooker. Can bake, pressure cook, slow cook, yogurt cook (which I doubt I will ever use), saute, rice cook and steam! Do I even need to use my stove?

I am on not a stranger to pressure cooker as mum uses it to cook when I was young. My original intention was to get a slow cooker and a pressure cooker but when I start browsing, I found out that most brands are combining the 2 functions nowadays. I got this from Harvey Norman at $175.00 during...yes mid year sales again. Original price is $219.00 and has been for a the few months I started ogling it. This is as good as it gets in terms of price!

Speaking of this mid year sales, I was so frustrated by it because
  1. I so want to buy all the electrical items because they are on good sale.
  2. House is not ready till September. Even then not guaranteed. Where to put my stuff?
I did a calculation, if I got my microwave, fridge, washing machine and an 40" TV during the sale it would save me $678.00 not something I can disregard easily. I was in so much conflict I consulted with Nite, Bits and Uncle. Naturally Nite's first words were, " Why would you even go to that place???" which I am sure echoed everyone's sentiment. Anyway, after much pondering and also thanks for Nite for lending me her place as storage should I need it (where to find friend like her), I eventually settled with just my microwave and this Philip beauty. Given up potentially a very stressful $678.00 which I hope will be proven right further down the road.

Meanwhile I enjoyed testing my pressure cooker. Check the steam baby! See the paper towel I stuck there? It's to soak up the juice that came out with the steam. Yes it's not the steam engine clean vapor but the Mount Vesuvius eruption, steam and lava minus ash. Aunt was rightly impressed as she never uses a pressure cooker before.

I was impressed too but you have to find a place to release the steam and my future kitchen is not a good place to do it.  Need to consider where to release the pressure safely in my new place. The steam pressure reduces cooking time to at least 4 hours and my first meal using it was fantastic lamb shank on veggies.

Unfortunately second meal using it flopped and I spend the whole week eating my flopped curry pork. A valuable lesson on the powers of pressure and NOT to over pressure your stuff until it turned into puree.

Hope to try the baking function some time in the future after I recover from the indigestion of eating all that pork.
